Thanks for getting in your surveys! Over 87% of you have finished your surveys. And, I know some of you are waiting to see Dejan's alternative cover before pulling the trigger... so let's take a look at his progress:
As we indicated in the Kickstarter, we wanted to evoke the Realms of Chaos: The Lost & the Damned in the alternative full-spread cover art (if you don't know the history of this iconic cover, read this article). Dejan is sharing out progress images with us along the way, and here's a peek at the first two outputs. Note that these are sketches and color studies, and don't reflect the final, polished version for print:
We are very, very close to having the artwork and layout completed. For these, we made the decision to have the cards appear like old medieval medical journals. We anticipate more detail on these cards, but this closely resembles the front of the card:
We are also getting close on the Mishap cards. Here is a peek at the color study of the Mishap cards. These are not the final copy or imagery:
One of our goals as a company is that any official book (save for chapbooks) will be illustrated cover to cover by the same artist. For both ZWEIHÄNDER & MAIN GAUCHE, we chose Dejan Mandic to do all artwork. As an example, in ZWEIHÄNDER there are over 400 individual images.
As you all blew the doors off of our backing goals, we made the decision to jam-pack the book with more artwork from Dejan Mandic. Our goal is 275 images for MAIN GAUCHE.
At this point, we are anticipating a delay from our original target date. We are aiming to have the documents to our printer in December, with a goal of beginning shipment in late January. We felt this was the right decision to make, as ZWEIHÄNDER set the standard for being chockablock full of amazing artwork. We hope you can understand why we made this decision. We are happy to reimburse anyone 100% who doesn't want to wait - simply email me direct at [email protected].
