Flames of Freedom: Grim & Perilous RPG is an American gothic horror game set in 1776 North America, powered by the Zweihänder RPG engine. Experience Flames of Freedom before its formal release in July 2021 by downloading the free Quickstart. It comes equipped with 32 pages of game rules, an 11 page adventure, 7 pre-generated characters, cut-out paper miniatures and a print-out map. It can be played one-on-one, but also supports up to 7 players and one gamemaster. The rules and adventure are designed for new gamers, providing a 2-3 hour play experience.

This Quickstart is an all-in-one game, and does not require any previous play experience with Zweihänder RPG.

Hello friends,

As you may have learned yesterday FLAMES OF FREEDOM is coming to Kickstarter on October 5th! Powered by Zweihander RPG, this will be a new revolution of our game engine. In that, I am proud to announce that we will also be releasing a 61 page Quickstart – completely for free – during the Kickstarter so you can try before you back!

The first half of the book will include the 10 page Preamble, and 8 pages of how to use dice in FLAMES OF FREEDOM. Simple, succinct & understandable.  15 pages are dedicated to combat, so you can play this #ttrpg at your game table outside of the enclosed adventure...

Speaking of adventure, the back half of the book includes a 23 page supernatural mystery adventure called "The Sin Eater". It can be played 1 on 1 or w/ 7 players + 1 Historian (the GM). It establishes a beginning to the larger story in the rulebook...  (redacted spoilers)

Finally, the Quickstart will include paper miniatures! These can be used on your physical tabletop, or imported into your favorite VTT (like Roll20)

Dear cultists,

Catching up from the weekend of messages! Responding back in-line with your comments. Here's a round-up of where we're at:

VARIOUS UPDATES

• Our last wave of shipments go out this week. That means if you ordered Main Gauche (MG) Zweihander Revised (ZWEI) + any POD product, you are in this final wave of shipment.
• International backers: if you are being charged VAT or import fees, drop me an email with a copy of the receipt [email protected]. I will reimburse you 100%.
• If your books came in with any serious damage, be sure to drop me an email at [email protected] with pictures of the damage. We will send out a replacement copy completely gratis.

TRACKING ID ISSUE

We are getting reports from some of you that don't have tracking IDs. Primarily, this sounds like something that's ticking with Canadian and UK orders. We are attempting to track down the issue, but please be patient, as we are seeing many people in Canada and UK  reporting both here and on social media that they've received their packages (despite not getting tracking IDs). Remember: if you ordered MG + ZWEI + POD together, your packages are going out this week.

COLLECTOR'S EDITIONS + WEAPONS

Finally, if you ordered the Collector's Editions of the books and/or have the main gauche weapon, those will be shipping out next week. I am planning to sign & number all of these copies. FedEx won't accept live weapons, and our distributor won't handle them either, so I am taking them to USPS to deliver myself.

Shipping updates – shipping waves almost complete

Dear cultists,

First things first: books are moving through the mail system! Here's the details of our shipping waves from the distributor:

• Backers who didn't order any add-ons (you ordered a copy of MAIN GAUCHE only) should already have their books domestically, and international shipments are still in transit. We've had reports of folks in the UK and Poland already receiving their books. 
• Backers who ordered add-ons (MAIN GAUCHE + ZWEIHANDER ) will begin shipping this week.
• Backers who ordered add-ons (MAIN GAUCHE + ZWEIHANDER +POD cards/screens/folios) will begin shipping next week. If you also ordered the skivertext/leatherette special ediitons, you are in this same wave of shipment.

VAT/IMPORT FEES

Remember: if you are an international destination for books, you may be charged VAT or other import charges. This is a rare occurrence, and happened a handful of times during our last Kickstarter. The import documentation will declare your packages as being 'educational' material worth $5 USD. If you are charged these fees, email me a receipt of those charges to [email protected], so I can reimburse you 100%. If for some reason they need to see a $5 invoice, email me so I can issue you one so they'll release the package to you.

SPECIAL EDITIONS

Special Edition books I will be hand-mailing out. MAIN GAUCHE Special Editions already arrive at the office in Missouri, and the ZWEIHANDER Special Editions arrive at the office next week. I'll be numbering and signing all of these books! I estimate it will take a week to sign & ship all of them. Note that the slipcases have not yet arrived, but will be here next week once we get our final shipment of the ZWEIHANDER Special Editions.

SPECIAL EDITIONS ALL SOLD OUT!

For those of you who ordered these Special Editions, here's a peek at what they look like. We upgraded their binding to PUR perma-glue, which is a step up from smythe binding. We also used reinforced flat spines, to ensure a snug, proper fit into the slipcase. Of the 1,000 Special Edition books, they've all been sold out/spoken for. Unfortunately, we won't be able to offer these to others who missed out on ordering them this time around:
